Toronto ComiCon 2022: “DIY Hero’s Journey” Panel
Toronto ComiCon returned after a three-year absence in March 2022 to the delight of fans everywhere. Among the many Star Wars-themed attractions (including appearances by celebrities like Admiral Akbar puppeteer Tim Rose, and BB-8 operator Brian Herring) was the DIY Hero’s Journey panel, featuring Star Wars musician Din of F-105, Order 416 cosplayer Kareem’s Dreams, cosplayer Aalya, and Star Wars Underworld Podcast host Dominic Jones (remotely).
The panel featured a discussion about how the Hero’s Journey, as developed by Joseph Campbell (and used by George Lucas to rewrite the original script for Star Wars in the 70s) can be applied to your life, illuminating the steps you’ve taken and what you need to do to achieve the ultimate goal. Highlighted by live music and lots of Star Wars references, the panel was a highlight of the weekend for all involved and (hopefully) those who attended.
